Medicare, Medicaid, VA, and private insurance all cover a variety of medically necessary expenses if ordered by a physician but long term health care facilities are usually paid for privately, with long-term care insurance, or through a combination of programs including but not limited to, VA, pension benefits and/or reverse mortgage proceeds.

Most assisted living and memory care facilities provide this service so an on-site nurse can review a resident’s list of medications and communicate directly with their physician on any changes that might be needed. It also provides family with a feeling of comfort that trained professionals are coordinating prescriptions and ensuring your loved one is taking their medications on-time.
